Style Me Happy with Red Velvet!

Do you remember Carrie and Miranda sitting on a bench eating pretty pink cup cakes, whilst Carrie chirped away about her new crush Aiden? This episode of Sex and The City helped make the Magnolia Bakery, a small bakery selling cup cakes on a quiet corner in the heart of New York City's Greenwich village, world famous!

So, I thought it would be fitting to use a Magnolia Bakery recipe for the cup cakes Sweet Marie's donated to the 3 Colours Rule 'Style Me Happy' Fashion Show .... If Magnolia's cup cakes are good enough for the fashion loving girls of NYC, then they would sure be good enough for the fashionistas of Shoreditch, East London!

The 3 Colours Rule style consultancy held a fashion show like no other fashion show. On Saturday 29th January at The Gallery, London E2, men and women gathered to honour exceptional women who have faced difficult situations and who have managed to come out stronger, more positive and inspirational. Their strength and determination is a good example for us all.

The evening of fun and fashion (held also in aid of the NSPCC) was highly entertaining, the catwalk show rocked with music from Kele Le Roc and Ashleigh Ashley and the 200 strong crowd were treated to  champagne, canapes, Sweet Marie's cup cakes and a goody bag stuffed with amazing products!

Ashleigh Ashley sang a great acoustic set as the catwalk show got into full swing

The cash raised on the night was donated to the NSPCC, a children's charity which relies on public donations to run services such as Childline and Helpline. There was a male dating auction, where 5 HOT men donated themselves for a romantic night to the highest bidders and a luxury raffle, which had prizes from Vivienne Westwood, La Senza and Swarovski.

The cup cakes Sweet Marie's donated were baked using the 'Red Velvet' recipe from the Magnolia Bakery Cookbook, named red velvet because of the bright red colour that is beautifully contrasted against a creamy vanilla frosting! A rich and delicious cake, or 200 of them in this instance!

A blend of organic butter, flour, eggs, full fat milk and buttermilk, unsweetened cocoa, caster sugar and organic cider vinegar with a pinch of salt and bicarbonate of soda and not forgetting the red food colouring make up the red velvet mix!!

The 'Red Velvet' mix almost matches the colour of the KitchenAid! 8 Batches were mixed up to make enough for 200 'Muffin' sized cup cakes.

The cakes were decorated with swirls of creamy vanilla butter icing and 'hot red lips' and 'sweet heart' sprinkles

and individually presented in Sweet Marie's boxes!
